‘Bloodaxe’ Season 2 Adds Five to Cast

Amazon Prime Video's Norse historical epic "Bloodaxe" has expanded its Season 2 cast ahead of the show's premiere, which has yet to be scheduled. The series, renewed for a second season in June, is now filming in Ireland and follows the rise of Norse raider Erik Bloodaxe and his wife Gunnhild as they fight for the throne of Norway amid rivalries and betrayals.
Gard Løkke ("Home for Christmas") joins as a series regular, while Melina Åkerman ("Granite Harbour"), Kieran Bew ("House of the Dragon"), Sebastian Bull ("Azrael") and George Burgess ("Spartacus: House of Ashur") will recur. The show stars Xavier Molyneux and Jessica Madsen, and is created and written by Michael and Horatio Hirst, with MGM Television producing alongside several executive producers.

Norse warlord Erik Bloodaxe, remembered in history and legend as a fierce Viking-age ruler, is the subject of this Amazon Prime Video drama, which imagines his violent bid to seize and hold the throne of Norway alongside his wife, the equally formidable Gunnhild. The series mixes historical figures with dramatised court intrigue, betrayal and warfare, in the vein of other big-budget historical epics. It stars Xavier Molyneux and Jessica Madsen in the lead roles and is written and created by brothers Michael and Horatio Hirst, with MGM Television among the producers.
The show was renewed for a second season in June, and production has now moved to Ireland, where filming is under way. No premiere date has yet been announced. Casting news, such as new additions to the ensemble, is part of the run-up to that eventual release and gives an early indication of the scale and direction of the next set of episodes.
