Rivian spinout Also raises another $150 million
Also, the micromobility startup spun out of Rivian, has raised a further $150 million as it pushes beyond its electric pedal-assist bikes and cargo quads into autonomous delivery vehicles. The Series D round underscores growing investor confidence in the company's strategy of applying Rivian's vertically integrated, design-led approach to smaller electric vehicles, and comes as Also works to translate its existing electric architecture into multiple autonomous formats.
The round was led by Prysm Capital, with existing backers Eclipse, Greenoaks and MVP Ventures also participating, bringing Also's total funding to $455 million since its founding less than two years ago. It follows a $200 million round in led by Greenoaks just a few months earlier, which included a strategic investment and multi-year commercial agreement with DoorDash for autonomous delivery vehicles. Also spun out of Rivian in 2025 with $150 million in backing, and Rivian retains a minority stake with founder RJ Scaringe sitting on its board; the company has faced delays getting its $4,500 TM-B ebike to customers, but says its Launch edition has now begun shipping, with other models due in autumn.
