French police have detained two men after confirming that a scorched body found in a vineyard near Nîmes belongs to social media influencer Sonia Bellina, 29, who had around 260,000 followers on TikTok. The case has drawn significant public attention, as speculation and rumour circulated online for days before authorities confirmed her identity, with her family reportedly facing harassment during the ordeal.

A farmer discovered the body between rows of vines in Saint-Gilles on 12 August, prompting a murder investigation, though it took several days and DNA analysis for prosecutor Cécile Gensac to confirm it was Bellina, who had been visiting family ahead of her 30th birthday. The two men were taken into custody on Wednesday over evidence of possible direct or indirect involvement, while the family's lawyer, Mourad Battikh, described the killing as one of "rare savagery" and said Bellina's body had been "almost thrown away like garbage"; he added that the family would make no further statements and asked for privacy.
