Actor Curtis Lum, known for The Night Agent and The Audacity, is joining the casts of ABC's forthcoming police drama The Rookie: North and Prime Video's crime thriller Cross for its third season. The move adds a familiar rising talent to two high-profile projects, one a new spin-off expanding the popular Rookie franchise and the other an established hit based on James Patterson's Alex Cross novels.

In The Rookie: North, which stars Jay Ellis and is set to premiere in 2027, Lum will recur as Officer Charley Furst, a laid-back cop known for taking the easiest route on the job; the series follows Ellis's character Alex Holland as he joins the Pierce County Police Department after a home invasion spurs him into action. In Cross, led by Aldis Hodge as detective Alex Cross, Lum will guest star as F.W. Jung, a calculating fixer who solves problems for powerful clients. Lum's other upcoming projects include the film Karoshi, his leading debut in The Chinatown Diner, and producing and starring in New Diamond Restaurant.
