Sen Morimoto Readies New Album Time Is on Your Side
Chicago-based singer-songwriter Sen Morimoto has announced a new album, Time Is on Your Side, the follow-up to 2023's Diagnosis. The record will be released on 23 October via Sooper, the artist's own label, and arrives alongside a video for the track "Overthinker".
The nine-track album features contributions from fellow Chicago musicians Kaina Castillo, Ryan Person, Elijah Bradford and Brok Mende. In a press release, Morimoto described a relaxed approach to songwriting, saying some tracks came together in a couple of improvised takes while others took years to develop, adding that they hoped the record "could inspire the freedom to slow down".

Chicago musician Sen Morimoto is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who also runs the independent label Sooper. Their previous album, Diagnosis, came out in 2023, and the new record, Time Is on Your Side, is the follow-up, made with the input of several other Chicago-based musicians.
Morimoto has built a career blending genres including jazz, hip-hop and indie rock, and operates within a close-knit Chicago music scene that includes the collaborators featured on this album. Releasing through their own label, rather than a larger outside company, gives Morimoto more direct control over how the record is put out and promoted.
New album announcements like this typically mark the start of a promotional run leading up to release, often including advance singles or videos, as is the case with the accompanying "Overthinker" video here.
