Genesis joins the giant electric SUV club with new GV90
Genesis has revealed the production version of its GV90, a large electric flagship SUV that translates the earlier Neolum concept almost unchanged into a showroom-ready model. The GV90 matters as another entrant in the growing field of oversized electric SUVs from Korean brands, sharing its 800V E-GMP platform with the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9, while adding distinctive design touches such as pillarless coach doors on the high-end Neolum variant, positioning Genesis to compete more directly with premium luxury EV rivals.
The line-up will eventually include a seven-seat, three-row GV90, though the launch focuses on four-seat versions, including the flagship Neolum with its B-pillar-less "Arch Gate" doors and an interior blending leather, wool and wood. Standout features include the world's first roof airbag, a retractable "Cinematic Display" OLED screen paired with a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, and rapid charging from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 22 minutes via a 350kW DC charger. The 123.5kWh battery gives roughly 310 miles of range in the seven-seat model, while dual motors produce a combined 657hp and 590lb-ft of torque; pricing and on-sale timing have not yet been confirmed.
