Rockstar owner Take-Two Interactive suffers massive financial blow amid GTA 6 leak fiasco

Destructoid · 3 hours ago

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has suffered a sharp fall in its stock market valuation after a hacker began leaking material from the unreleased Grand Theft Auto 6, just a week before its scheduled Netflix reveal. The leaked content reportedly includes gameplay footage, cutscenes and music, with the leaker claiming to possess the entire game, prompting investors to sell off shares in the company.

According to Insider Gaming, Take-Two's share price dropped by $15.29, wiping around $2.83 billion off its market value, a fall of roughly five per cent. Despite the loss, the company's market capitalisation remains substantial at more than $43 billion. The leaker also posted a further clip appearing to show them firing a weapon within the game to spell out their name on a wall, suggesting they are running an active build rather than sharing old test footage, drawing comparisons to a similar 2023 hack that saw full game builds stolen from developer Insomniac Games.
