Mark Zuckerberg bought an Irish castle

The Verge · 3 hours ago

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have bought Strancally Castle, a 16,000-square-foot property with a 440-acre estate in Ireland, according to The Irish Times. The purchase, made "several weeks ago," adds a historic European estate to a real estate portfolio that already includes more than a dozen properties across the United States, underlining the couple's expanding personal wealth and continued ties to Ireland, where Meta bases its international headquarters.

The exact purchase price has not been disclosed, but reports suggest the family may have paid between €20 million and €30 million for the castle, which was restored by its previous owners, Michael and Giancarla Alen-Buckley. Built around 1830 for a Tory MP, the castle will reportedly remain a secondary residence, as Zuckerberg and Chan are expected to continue living primarily in the US. A Meta spokesperson said the family looks forward to "caring for this historic home" and spending time in Ireland.
