Harry and Meghan Are Leaving California — But Are They Leaving Hollywood?

The Hollywood Reporter · 3 hours ago

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are leaving California and returning to London, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, enrolled in a British school for September, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The couple will keep their homes in California and Portugal and plan to stay in England for an unspecified period, likely at least a full school year, after what a source described as a "wonderful" summer trip overseas with family and friends. The move raises questions about their future in Hollywood, though they have no plans to resume senior royal duties or titles and will live in a private residence.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a Netflix deal reportedly worth around $100 million in September 2020, shortly after stepping back as senior royals, and settled in Montecito that year. Their Archewell Productions delivered several Netflix projects, including Harry & Meghan, Heart of Invictus and two seasons of With Love, Meghan, though only the couple's own documentary performed strongly, and an animated series, Pearl, was scrapped. Netflix downgraded the arrangement to a first-look deal a year ago and ended its seven-month partnership with Meghan's As Ever lifestyle brand, though Archewell still has projects in development, including an adaptation of Meet Me at the Lake, and keeps an office at Netflix's headquarters.
