Michelle Pfeiffer Reveals Career Plans After Saying She “Never” Wanted to “Star in Another Movie”
Michelle Pfeiffer has clarified she is not retiring from film, addressing widespread speculation sparked by earlier comments suggesting she was stepping away from starring roles. Appearing on The Tonight Show, the actress told host Jimmy Fallon that reports of her retirement were "ridiculous" and that her earlier remarks had been "taken out of context," insisting "of course, I want to star in another movie."
The confusion stemmed from comments Pfeiffer made earlier in August at THR x Apple TV's "Leading the Narrative" event, where she said she "never" wanted to "star in another movie" and preferred ensemble work. She explained to Fallon that she had simply meant to express her love of working with ensemble casts, a preference reflected in her acclaimed television roles this year in Apple TV's "Margo's Got Money Troubles" (which earned her an Emmy nomination and which she also executive produced) and Paramount+'s "The Madison," both renewed for further seasons. A three-time Oscar nominee, Pfeiffer's film credits include "Dangerous Liaisons," "Batman Returns," "Scarface" and "The Fabulous Baker Boys."
