SYMPHONY X Plans To Start Recording Long-Awaited New Studio Album In September

Blabbermouth · 3 hours ago

Symphony X plan to begin recording their long-awaited new studio album in September, according to vocalist Russell Allen. The progressive metal band’s first album since 2015’s *Underworld* is expected to arrive in 2027, marking progress after years of touring and delays.

Allen said the music, lyrics and concepts are already prepared, with guitarist Mike Romeo holding extensive material for the record. Romeo previously explained that reduced album royalties and the need to tour after the Covid-19 pandemic had repeatedly interrupted writing, leaving him with more than 1,000 musical ideas to sort through; the band has since begun narrowing these into a cohesive album.

  • Russell Allen expects a 2027 release.
  • Touring and financial pressures delayed the album.
