A 30-year-old man has been charged with 16 offences after police allegedly found improvised explosive devices during a search in Wagga Wagga, in the New South Wales Riverina region. The case is notable for the range of items allegedly uncovered, from drugs to weapons and explosives, prompting a firearms and drugs prosecution. He was refused bail and remains in custody pending his next court appearance.

The man was initially stopped and searched by police at 8am on Thursday, when a small quantity of cocaine and MDMA was allegedly seized. Officers then executed a search warrant at a property, allegedly finding two improvised explosive devices, ammunition, a homemade "slam gun", BB pellets, cannabis seeds and two vials of testosterone. Charges include two counts of manufacturing a military-style weapon without a permit, four counts of possessing a prohibited drug, eight counts of possessing ammunition without a licence, possessing an unregistered firearm, and breaching an AVO. He appeared in court on Friday and is due back at Wagga Wagga Local Court on 21 October.
