Snoop Dogg Biopic Finds Its Tupac Shakur in Camron Jones (Exclusive)

The Hollywood Reporter · 11 hours ago

Actor Camron Jones, known for Amazon Prime's Panic, has been cast as Tupac Shakur in Universal Pictures' upcoming biopic Snoop, which tells the story of rapper and entertainment mogul Snoop Dogg. Craig Brewer directs the film, produced by Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum alongside Snoop Dogg and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker, with Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss playing Snoop Dogg himself. The casting reflects renewed Hollywood interest in the story of Death Row Records and the fraught relationship between Snoop Dogg and Shakur, who was killed in a 1996 drive-by shooting.

Recent casting additions include Myles Bullock Be as Dr. Dre and Lauren London as Snoop Dogg's mother, joining a project that will draw on Snoop Dogg's extensive music catalogue. Brewer rewrote the latest script draft, originally penned by Joe Robert Cole, with Michael Beugg and Jeb Brody serving as executive producers. Jones, whose credits include grown-ish, The Purge and Shameless, will also appear in the third season of Starz's P-Valley.
