Sabrina Carpenter has paid tribute to Dolly Parton following the country music icon's death at the age of 80. Parton's death was announced on Tuesday (25 August) by her nephew, Bryan Seaver, via Instagram, prompting an outpouring of remembrance for a singer, actress and philanthropist whose six-decade career produced classics such as "Jolene," "9 to 5" and "I Will Always Love You." Carpenter's tribute is significant given the pair's close creative bond, having collaborated on music earlier this year.

Carpenter shared a carousel of photos on Instagram from the set of her "Please Please Please" music video, in which Parton featured, alongside a heartfelt caption recalling their first meeting and calling Parton "an angel walking the earth." The two had teamed up for a reworked version of "Please Please Please" on the deluxe edition of Carpenter's 2024 album Short n' Sweet, also starring together in its Thelma & Louise-inspired video; the original track had already given Carpenter her first Billboard Hot 100 number one in June 2024.
