Atari and Activision are reviving 39 of Activision's earliest Atari 2600 titles as physical cartridges, a rare bet on physical media at a time when the format is in decline. The Atari x Activision Collection revives classics such as Pitfall! and River Raid, games from Activision's founding years before it became known for Call of Duty, restoring a link to its Atari-employee roots that had faded, particularly since Microsoft's 2023 acquisition of the studio.

The cartridges are period-accurate and work on original Atari 2600 and 7800 hardware as well as the modern 2600+ and 7800+ systems. Twelve games will be sold individually as Standard Editions for $34.99 each from November, while the remaining titles are only available in four Deluxe Box Sets priced at $249.99 apiece, shipping at staggered dates. Collectors wanting everything can buy a Complete Collection, bundling all four box sets plus an unannounced collector's item, for $999.96; preorders are open now via Atari's website.
