Ridley Scott's Alien franchise is enjoying a surge in popularity, with the Hulu/Disney+ series Alien: Earth ranking in the top 10 in several countries as fans await its second season. The show, created by Noah Hawley, marked the franchise's first venture onto television and proved successful enough to secure a renewal, coming at a moment when Scott himself is juggling several new projects, including the forthcoming film The Dog Stars and a planned Treasure Island remake starring Hugh Jackman.

Alien: Earth's first season scored 94% with critics and 65% with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and follows a hybrid prototype named Wendy navigating a world governed by five corporations after a Weyland-Yutani spacecraft crashes into Prodigy City. Season two has been filming for several months and is expected to arrive sometime next year, with Game of Thrones alumni Peter Dinklage and Jerome Flynn joining the cast. Scott, who has not directed a sci-fi film since 2017's Alien: Covenant, remains involved as a producer through his Scott Free banner.
