Netflix has greenlit "Jig", a new six-episode mockumentary comedy from Lisa McGee, the creator of "Derry Girls" and "How to Get to Heaven From Belfast". The series, set in the world of competitive Irish dancing, marks McGee's third project for the streamer and was one of several titles unveiled at the Edinburgh TV Festival. It matters as another sign of Netflix's continued investment in Northern Irish talent and comedy following the success of "Derry Girls".

"Jig" follows best friends Cara and Fletcher at a struggling Derry dance school competing against a slick, well-funded rival team from Florida for a place at the world championships. Filming is due to begin next year in Northern Ireland, with Orchid Pictures producing and McGee writing and executive producing alongside Liz Lewin, Caroline Leddy and Suzanne Mackie; casting has not yet been announced. The announcement came alongside other Netflix projects revealed at Edinburgh, including a "Top Boy" prequel starring Barry Keoghan, a Kate Winslet drama, and a Roald Dahl anthology series.
