Blake Lively Will Receive $400K in Attorney Fees In Justin Baldoni Case
Blake Lively has been awarded roughly $407,000 in legal fees and costs following the settlement of her dispute with Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios. The award is far below the more than $8 million she sought, as the judge limited recovery to reasonable expenses directly related to defending Baldoni’s defamation claim.
US District Judge Lewis J. Liman approved $363,000 in solicitors’ fees and $44,000 in court costs, finding that the rates charged were reasonable but the claimed hours were excessive. He also rejected expenses for media relations, saying they were not integral to the defamation defence; the ruling follows the May settlement of an 18-month dispute stemming from Lively’s allegations of harassment during the production of It Ends With Us.
- Lively will receive about $407,000 in fees and costs.
- The judge rejected most of her $8 million request.
- Media relations costs were ruled non-compensable.
