Robert Plant said Buffalo Springfield’s 1966 song ‘Flying on the Ground is Wrong’ gradually changed his view of West Coast, blues-influenced hippie music. He initially found the song unremarkable, but repeated listening revealed qualities he had missed, reinforcing the Led Zeppelin singer’s openness to different musical styles and helping shape his broader approach to sound.

Plant later bought the Buffalo Springfield album and praised its versatility, saying it worked both as energetic music and for close listening. He said the West Coast scene eventually had such a strong effect on him that much of the older blues music he had previously loved no longer felt as compelling, despite his continued appreciation for good blues.
