Jay Wheeler’s ‘De Lejitos’ Gets Up Close With No. 1 on Latin Airplay: ‘Fills Me With Great Pride’
Jay Wheeler’s “De Lejitos” has reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, giving the Puerto Rican singer his fourth chart-topper. The result reflects continued radio momentum for the song and follows Wheeler’s previous leadership of the chart in March; he said the achievement filled him with pride, particularly as the track had first been a favourite of his daughter.
The song earned 6.7 million US audience impressions during 14–20 August, up 4% week on week, after rising from No. 2. It also returned to No. 8 on Hot Latin Songs after streaming gains, while Banda El Recodo scored its 21st Regional Mexican Airplay No. 1 with a new version of Antonio Aguilar’s 1958 song “La Cama de Piedra”, moving level with Intocable for fourth-most leaders since that chart began in 1994.
