Two people were arrested after an alleged stolen-car incident in Queensland escalated into a police pursuit, dangerous driving allegations and reports of shots being fired. The episode prompted police to briefly establish an emergency zone, though authorities later said they believed there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Police say an allegedly stolen vehicle drove at a police car in Nambour at about 11am on Thursday before fleeing; its passenger was later arrested. The alleged driver then abandoned the vehicle after it was seen on the Bruce Highway, allegedly stole a gold Toyota containing a child’s seat and baby blankets, and was eventually arrested at Smoke Bush Drive near Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort. Investigations are continuing.
