Melbourne beauty influencer Veronica Mauring has appeared in court charged with assault with a weapon after allegedly chasing her boyfriend with a knife during an argument at their Armadale home in July last year. The case matters because the alleged incident involved threats and an attempted stabbing, although Mauring says she had taken the knife for self-defence amid escalating distress.

Court documents say the dispute began after Mauring was unable to return a parcel and discovered her mobile data had expired. A flatmate allegedly tried to intervene, was lunged at and narrowly missed, then called police; Mauring later told officers she had said she wanted to kill her partner but did not intend to do so. Two other charges were withdrawn, she has no prior convictions, is seeing a psychologist and is expected to plead guilty when the case returns to court in November.
