Holden Parazette, a 26-year-old skier from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, died after drowning in a hot tub in Huntington Beach, California, on 9 July. His parents said drugs and alcohol were not factors, while the local coroner’s office said the death remains under investigation; the case has prompted tributes from the skiing community.

Parazette began skiing competitively aged six with the Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club and later won a Junior Nationals slalom race after leaving school. He graduated from Middlebury College with a physics degree in February 2024, then studied mechanical engineering and worked as an assistant ski-team coach at the University of Utah, whose team remembered him for his humour and generosity.
