Tim Curry was honoured by current and former performers of Dr Frank-N-Furter after news of his death at 80. The tribute underlined Curry’s lasting influence on The Rocky Horror Show, as the actor who created its defining central character and helped make the production a cultural landmark.

After a Broadway performance, current Frank-N-Furter actor Paul Soileau described Curry as the role’s original “home” and credited him with creating a character in which audiences could recognise themselves. Soileau was joined by outgoing performer Luke Evans and incoming cast member Jake Shears for “I’m Going Home”; Curry first played the role in London in 1973, then on Broadway and in the 1975 film. Creator Richard O’Brien called Curry a “good egg and class act”, while a theatre tribute was established at Studio 54.
