Todd Snider’s final album, *My Second Rodeo*, is due to be released on 9 October following the singer-songwriter’s death in Nashville on 14 November 2025, aged 59. The record matters as a final expression of Snider’s experimental approach to country music, which blended country traditions with blues, rock and folk influences and aimed to imagine the genre’s future.

Collaborator Joe Bisirri said Snider described the sound as “country music 10 years in the future”, rebuilding familiar country elements around slow, swampy rhythms and New Orleans-style horns. Recorded in Nashville during September and October 2025, the album features musicians including Nikki Barber, Alicia Gail, Brooke Gronemeyer, Robbie Crowell and Aaron Lee Tasjan; Snider recorded his vocal and guitar parts first, without a click track, requiring the band to follow his performance.
