The Metropolitan Police will take no further action against Bob Vylan frontman Bobby Vylan over his “death, death to the IDF” chant at an Al-Quds Day demonstration in central London on 15 March. The decision follows scrutiny of similar remarks at the band’s Glastonbury performance and is significant because the chant prompted concern, particularly within London’s Jewish communities, while raising wider questions about protest, political speech and potential criminal liability.

Police said they sought early advice from the Crown Prosecution Service before deciding not to proceed. Avon and Somerset Police had previously reached the same outcome after investigating the Glastonbury performance; Bobby Vylan criticised the Met’s five-month investigation, and the band has also announced legal action against the BBC over its response to their Glastonbury set.
