Colombian filmmaker Sebastián Múnera will premiere his feature debut, *Meteorite (Meteorito)*, in competition at Venice Critics’ Week on 8 September. The film follows two women who smuggle mobile phones into a regional prison, using an amusement park on a former drug lord’s estate to explore how violence persists within everyday life.

Múnera drew inspiration from visiting Nápoles in central Colombia as a child, when it was a safari-style zoo, and later finding it turned into a theme park beside a maximum-security prison. The cast includes Ángela Cano and Luna Gaviria; Múnera co-wrote the screenplay with Martha Márquez, while MoreThan Films is handling international sales.
