Morelia Film Festival’s 12th Impulso Morelia will showcase six Mexican films in post-production, selected from about 90 submissions, giving filmmakers industry feedback before release. The programme includes projects from established directors Tatiana Huezo and Elisa Miller as well as first-time filmmakers, and is intended to help refine films through discussion with peers and professionals.

The forum runs from 18 to 20 October and will be judged by an international panel led by producer Ted Hope. Its main José María Riba award offers 250,000 pesos (£14,740) for post-production or promotion, while Estudios Churubusco Azteca will provide services worth 700,000 pesos (£41,280); other companies are also contributing in-kind support. Huezo’s second fiction film follows two casting scouts travelling through remote Mexico, while one debut documentary, “Homeboys”, centres on a deported former gang member running a shelter for deportees and ex-convicts.
