Brian May and Billy Gibbons hook up on posthumous Steve Cropper single My Angels Are Calling
Brian May of Queen and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top have appeared together on “My Angels Are Calling”, a posthumously released Steve Cropper track. The collaboration forms part of Cropper’s final album, Watching The Tide, and highlights the continuing influence of the guitarist and songwriter after his death.
Cropper, who died aged 84 in December 2025, had completed 10 of the album’s 11 tracks with producer Jon Tiven before his death. Recorded at Nashville’s RCA Studio C, the album also features Eric Clapton and Ronnie Wood; it was released on 28 August through Provogue/Artone Label Group.
