The 22-year-old Ecuador international is recovering from a broken metatarsal, an injury Palace knew about during negotiations. Palace had moved ahead of Aston Villa in the pursuit of Ordonez and have stepped up their search for centre-backs after Chadi Riad was stretchered off against Everton; they also signed Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea.
