Disney and The Pokémon Company have announced that Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, a new stop-motion series by British studio Aardman Animations, will arrive on Disney XD and Disney+ in 2027. The programme returns Pokémon to the Galar region from Pokémon Sword and Shield, pairing Sirfetch’d and Pichu on comic adventures to help other Pokémon, and forms part of Disney’s wider effort to expand Pokémon content on its streaming service.

Aardman, known for Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run and Shaun the Sheep, first revealed its Pokémon collaboration in 2024, with a trailer now shown at the Pokémon XP event in San Francisco. Disney+ already offers Pokémon the Series: The Beginning in the US and selected international markets, while seasons 20 to 22 are available through Hulu; the new series has no precise 2027 release date yet.
