Lil Durk Murder-for-Hire Trial: Admitted Shooter Grilled on Cross, Confronted With Jail Calls

Rolling Stone · 7 hours ago

An admitted gunman in Lil Durk’s alleged murder-for-hire case faced intensive cross-examination as the trial continued in Los Angeles. The defence sought to undermine Kasey “OTF Jam” Hester’s credibility by highlighting his co-operation deal, his stated desire to leave jail, and apparent changes in his accounts to federal investigators.

Hester testified that Durk Banks allegedly offered money for the killing of rival rapper Quando Rondo following King Von’s 2020 death, and that he joined a group sent to California to find him. He admitted firing at Quando Rondo’s vehicle at a Los Angeles petrol station on 19 August 2022; Quando Rondo survived, but his cousin Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson was killed. In a 2023 interview, Hester initially said he could not say whether there was a bounty, before later claiming Banks had indicated those who killed Quando Rondo would be “straight”; he subsequently testified that $500,000 or $1 million had been discussed.

  • Defence challenges admitted shooter’s changing accounts and motives for co-operating.
  • Shooter links alleged plot to retaliation for King Von’s killing.
  • Quando Rondo survived; his cousin was killed in the 2022 shooting.
