How to reset your Roku TV

Engadget · 3 hours ago

Roku TVs can be restarted or reset when they freeze, lose Wi‑Fi, stop responding to the remote or encounter software problems. A soft reset is the recommended first step because it restarts the television without deleting apps, account details, network settings or preferences; a factory reset should be reserved for serious issues or preparing the set for a new owner.

Users can restart through the Settings menu or, if the interface is frozen, unplug the TV for 10 seconds before reconnecting it. A factory reset removes the Roku account, installed channels and personal settings, requiring Wi‑Fi details, account credentials and app logins to be entered again; it can be started in Settings or, on many models, by holding the physical Reset button for about 12 seconds until the status light flashes.

  • Try a restart before performing a factory reset.
  • Factory resets erase accounts, apps and personal settings.
  • Keep Wi‑Fi and Roku login details ready.
