Anbernic’s reimagining of the Switch Lite goes on sale August 31
Anbernic will begin taking orders for its RG 55G1 handheld on 31 August. Styled similarly to Nintendo’s Switch Lite but running Android 14, it is intended for retro-game emulation and could offer a lower-cost alternative for players seeking support for older console titles.
The device has a 5.5-inch 1,920 × 1,080 display, symmetrical Hall-effect joysticks and claimed battery life of up to eight hours. It uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 processor, which should emulate games up to PlayStation 2 and Wii level, and will be sold in black, indigo and retro grey; prices range from $150 for 4GB RAM/64GB storage to $225 for 8GB/128GB with an additional 256GB microSD card, with $10 off during the first three days.
