Melinda French Gates Doubles Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Donation Sum Bringing Total to $20 Million

The Hollywood Reporter · 3 hours ago

Melinda French Gates has pledged to double the funds raised by Olivia Rodrigo's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival, taking the total donation to women-focused nonprofits from $10 million to $20 million. Rodrigo announced the doubled figure during her headline set on the festival's second night, praising French Gates as one of the most inspiring people she had met and thanking the artists who performed for free to help raise the original sum. The gesture caps off a landmark debut for the festival, which Rodrigo launched to support causes tied to women's health, safety and rights.

The $20 million will be split evenly among ten beneficiary organisations, including Baby2Baby, Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Rights, the National Domestic Workers Alliance and Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, among others. Daisy Chain Fields, announced in June and held for the first time this year, featured performers including Chappell Roan, Mitski, Doechii, Bikini Kill and Garbage, alongside special guests Stevie Nicks, Karen O and Sarah McLachlan. Girl group Katseye withdrew from the lineup shortly before the event after member Megan sustained an injury.
