Two people have died and nine others were injured after a gunman opened fire on a residential street in Trenton, New Jersey, in the early hours of Sunday morning. The shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents to hit the city, coming just weeks after officials introduced an emergency weekend curfew in response to a surge in nighttime crime.

Police were called to the 100 block of Locust Street at around 12.25am following reports of gunfire, arriving to find multiple victims with gunshot wounds. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force is investigating the shooting, while the injured are being treated at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
