The Wolf Among Us 2 devs talk evolving the series while keeping the core intact
At Gamescom 2026, developers of The Wolf Among Us 2 discussed how the long-awaited sequel builds on Telltale's original game while updating it for modern audiences. Although 13 years have passed since the first game's release, the sequel is set only around six months later in-universe, allowing it to remain a direct continuation in which characters still vividly recall the events of the first instalment, while giving the team scope to evolve the series' systems and presentation.
In a hands-off preview, players saw Bigby Wolf investigating alongside Faye, a human detective unaware of the Fables' hidden world, with choices allowing Wolf to reveal or conceal that secret. Developers confirmed Snow White also returns in her familiar role, though declined to say whether she is being replaced by Faye or how prior choices might carry over, leaving the original's ambiguous ending unaddressed. The biggest structural change is a shift from the first game's fixed, isometric camera to a third-person, player-controlled perspective, which the developers said deepens immersion, opens up new possibilities for visual storytelling, and gives players more agency in how they explore scenes and uncover story details.
- The Wolf Among Us 2 is set six months after the first game
- Snow White returns; her role alongside new character Faye stays unclear
- Game shifts to third-person, player-controlled camera for deeper immersion
