Aardman has confirmed key details about its upcoming stop-motion series Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu, revealed during the Pokémon XP event. The series will follow Sirfetch'd, an aspiring knight, and his playful squire Pichu as they journey through the Galar region trying to help other Pokémon, with their good intentions frequently going awry in classic Aardman style. This confirmation gives fans their clearest sense yet of the project's scale following its earlier announcement as a collaboration with The Pokémon Company International.

The show will comprise 21 episodes of seven minutes each, totalling 147 minutes of footage, a notable feat given Aardman noted that a week's work from its animators typically yields only around 13 seconds of finished stop-motion. Director Tom Parkinson described the central pairing as a "funny, heartfelt odd-couple story," with Pichu often acting as the voice of reason to Sirfetch'd's well-meaning but chaotic heroics. Aardman also showcased its production process at the event, including the puppets, interchangeable parts and practical sets used to recreate Galar. The series will premiere on Disney XD and stream exclusively on Disney+ worldwide in 2027.
