Aaron Donald, widely regarded as one of the NFL's greatest defensive players, has come out of retirement to rejoin the Los Angeles Rams, the only club he has played for. The 35-year-old had announced his sudden retirement in March 2024 after ten seasons, and his return is a significant boost for the Rams, who will regain one of the most dominant defensive linemen of his generation on a reported one-year, $20m contract.

Donald was the Rams' 13th overall pick in the 2014 draft and went on to win the 2014 defensive rookie of the year award before helping the side win the Super Bowl in 2022, recording two sacks in that victory. He is one of only three players to be named NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times, finished his career with 117 sacks, became the fastest defensive tackle to reach 100 sacks, and was an eight-time All-Pro selection. He confirmed his comeback on social media with the message "We back," alongside a highlights video.
