Scottie Scheffler has won the FedEx Cup for the second time, securing the PGA Tour's season-ending Tour Championship title in Atlanta with a composed final-round performance. Starting three strokes behind overnight leader Viktor Hovland, the world number one shot a four-under 66, the only sub-par round among the leading groups, to overhaul his rivals as several faltered down the stretch. The win, his 22nd career title, places him alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as the only golfers to have won the FedEx Cup more than once.

Scheffler finished on 16 under par, three clear of Hovland, whose erratic driving and cold putter led to a 72 for second place. American debutant Ryan Gerard took third on 12 under, while McIlroy shared fourth alongside five others, including England's Alex Fitzpatrick, who matched Scheffler's low round of 66 on his tournament debut. The victory also earns Scheffler a $10m (£7.4m) winner's cheque, the largest prize in golf, while defending champion Tommy Fleetwood finished tied for 11th.
