Daine appears on The Cover, shares exclusive playlist ‘I Believe In You’

NME · 4 hours ago

Filipino-Australian electronic pop artist Daine has been profiled by NME as this week's subject of The Cover, sharing an exclusive playlist titled 'I Believe In You' to accompany the feature. The interview, published ahead of the November release of their debut album 'In Endless Awe And Agony', arrives five years after Daine was tipped in NME's 2021 emerging artists list, and reflects on how their career has evolved since then.

The playlist features tracks from M.I.A., Chanel Beads, Sophia Stel, The Femcels, Babymorocco and Loukeman, alongside Aldn, who appeared on Daine's recent single 'I Used To Kill'. In the accompanying interview, Daine looks back on the pressures following early buzz that included a Charli XCX cosign and a Bring Me The Horizon collaboration, describing that period as one of creative indecision. Now signed to indie label Pack. Records and having released singles 'PQC', 'Love Love (Love Love)' and 'I Used To Kill', Daine says they are pursuing a more "human" sound and image, stripping back Auto-Tune and vocal distortion.
