‘The Expanse’ Officially Announces 2027 Comeback

Collider · 2 hours ago

Owlcat Games has officially confirmed The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a single-player sci-fi RPG set in the universe created by James S. A. Corey, will be released in spring 2027. The announcement, accompanied by a 90-second trailer, marks the franchise's most substantial return since the Prime Video television series ended in January 2022, extending a story world that has already spanned six television seasons, a run of novels and a 2023 Telltale game.

In the game, players control a customisable Pinkwater mercenary who can be an Earther, Martian or Belter captain, with the trailer depicting a mission on Ganymede to recover data stolen from Pinkwater Station. The RPG places heavy emphasis on companions and player choice, featuring seven recruitable characters including the protagonist's twin, whose loyalties and relationships shift depending on the player's decisions, alongside customisable weapons, abilities and squad synergies. Its structure, built around a customisable commander leading a crew through political intrigue, draws obvious comparisons to the Mass Effect series.
