Singer Miguel has publicly condemned racist and anti-Asian abuse directed at his partner, Margaret Zhang, and their child, calling it unacceptable harassment rather than legitimate criticism. He shared the statement on Instagram on 28 August, saying comments, DMs and abuse aimed at his family had "crossed a line that should require no explanation".

In the post, the Grammy-winning R&B artist distinguished between fair public criticism of his music and career, which he accepts, and racism, threats, stalking, privacy invasions and targeting of children, which he described as abuse rather than opinion. He also warned organisations and individuals who "knowingly amplify or enable" such behaviour that they were not supporting him, adding that legal and ethical action would continue where lines had been crossed. The statement comes after Miguel released his latest album, 'Caos', last year, his first in eight years following 2017's 'War & Leisure'.
