Aardman Animation and The Pokémon Company International have revealed new details about their upcoming stop-motion series, Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu, which follows a Sirfetch'd striving to become a "great knight" alongside his Pichu squire in the Galar region. Collider's writer argues the show could fill the gap left by HBO's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, drawing comparisons between the earnest, accident-prone knight-and-companion dynamic of Sirfetch'd and Pichu and that of Dunk and Egg in George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones prequel.

The comparison stems from a roundtable Collider attended at Pokémon XP, where Aardman's team described Sirfetch'd's ambition to become a great knight and Pichu's role as his considerably smaller squire, mirroring the size contrast and dynamic between Dunk and Egg. Sirfetch'd's design, already built around leek-as-lance and leaf-as-shield knightly imagery, is given a genuine character arc through this ambition, while Aardman's signature style of sincere characters whose plans go comically awry is expected to shape the tone of the series.
