Gal Gadot has explained the circumstances behind her departure from the Wonder Woman role in DC's film franchise, addressing long-standing speculation in a new podcast interview. Speaking to Josh Horowitz on Happy Sad Confused, she revealed that studio bosses had actually told her they wanted to develop a third film with her, but she grew wary after observing how other DC talent had been treated, prompting her to step back.

Gadot specifically cited "the Henry situation" — a reference to Henry Cavill's Superman return being publicly announced by the studio before he was later dropped — as an example of poor handling, adding that director Patty Jenkins had faced similar treatment. Despite this, she said she held no ill will towards those involved, insisting "we're all adults" and that everyone was simply acting on their own beliefs. She also expressed gratitude for playing Wonder Woman, describing herself as merely "a vessel" for a character she said means a great deal to many people.
