Manchester City have moved to sign Everton's Iliman Ndiaye for up to £65m, hijacking a deal Tottenham had already agreed with the Merseyside club, and have also opened talks with Chelsea over Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernández. City turned to Ndiaye after their pursuit of Liverpool's Cody Gakpo collapsed, leaving Spurs to seek alternatives before Tuesday's transfer deadline, including a surprise loan move for Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk.

Everton agreed a fee of £60m plus £5m in add-ons for Ndiaye, who is set for a medical, while their attempt to bring in Richarlison from Spurs as a replacement has stalled after the Brazilian said he would not let his future be decided for him and is now expected to stay in north London. Chelsea, meanwhile, face losing Fernández to City, where he would reunite with former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, with the Blues having set a £120m valuation and already exploring replacements such as Roma's Manu Koné and Monaco's Lamine Camara; goalkeeper Robert Sánchez is also poised to leave Chelsea on loan to Como.
