The Wilder Blue, the Texas five-part harmony band led by Zane Williams, has released its fifth album, Cinco, on 28 August. Marking a shift from their usual approach, the group brought in outside musicians during recording rather than an external producer, an experiment that expands their sound while staying true to their signature blend of Texas country and lush vocal harmonies.

The band, comprising Williams, Paul Eason, Lyndon Hughes (who also produced the record), Sean Rodriguez and Andy Rogers, spent nine days recording at The Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, joined by guest players including fiddler Steve Auburn, steel guitarist Harrison Yount and keyboardist Travis Bishop. The album also features songwriter Phoenix Mendoza, who contributed three tracks, a cover of the 1979 song "Wild Western Windblown Band", and a collaboration with 1990s country star Tracy Byrd on "Texas Women". Williams cites the Eagles' tradition of collaborating with outside songwriters as a key influence on the record's communal, camaraderie-driven approach.
