Michael Strahan Looks Back at How America Healed After 9/11 With ABC News’ ‘United We Stand’ Special

Variety · 5 hours ago

ABC News anchor and former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan has produced a two-hour retrospective, "9/11: United We Stand – 25 Years Later," marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Rather than focusing solely on the tragedy itself, the special looks at how sport, music, comedy and the arts helped the United States recover in the aftermath, drawing on Strahan's own memories of the changed New York skyline and abandoned cars belonging to victims near MetLife Stadium.

The programme airs on ABC, Disney+ and Hulu on 1 September and features contributions from figures including Derek Jeter, Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Crystal, Pete Davidson, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart and Strahan's "Good Morning America" colleagues Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and Martha Raddatz. It was made by SMAC Productions, A+E Factual Studios, Jeter's Cap 2 Productions and The Montag Group for ABC News Studios, and aims to balance grief for the nearly 3,000 victims with the sense of unity and cultural resilience that emerged in the attacks' wake.
