A funeral for 19-year-old Nigel Beckford in Boynton Beach, Florida, ended in disorder after sheriff's deputies arrested five mourners whom they accused of trying to take over an intersection with reckless driving on their way back from the service. The incident escalated quickly, with officers reportedly firing rubber bullets at fleeing mourners and drawing accusations of excessive force, turning what should have been a period of grief into a confrontation between the family and police.

Beckford died after being shot multiple times on 8 August; his family held the funeral weeks later, only for a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office gang unit to stop a group of vehicles they said were driving recklessly and attempting an intersection "takeover". Deputies found four stolen firearms during the stop and arrested five young men, later identified as Dylan Jayantione Stragh, Dwight Jamallantion Stragh, Cardell Valcourt, Jaedin Akwuame Stoveall and Malik Lanard McGraw, all of whom were booked on Saturday and released on bond the next day. Beckford's aunt, Shanna Burks, filmed the arrests and alleged officers used excessive force, including punches and knee restraints, while she herself claimed to have been bruised after asking what was happening.
