Netflix has licensed all three seasons of "The Sex Lives of College Girls" from Warner Bros. Television, adding it alongside "Never Have I Ever" as the second instalment of what's been dubbed the "Mindy Comedy Universe" – a loose trilogy tracing different stages of Mindy Kaling's life. The move is notable because it comes just days after Hulu cancelled Kaling's third series in the set, "Not Suitable For Work," after a single season, raising speculation that Netflix could eventually bring all three shows together on one platform.

"The Sex Lives of College Girls," co-created by Kaling and Justin Noble, joins Netflix on a non-exclusive basis, meaning it remains available on HBO Max as well. Netflix picking up a second season of "Not Suitable For Work" is seen as unlikely given streamers rarely revive cancelled rivals' shows, though licensing the existing season is considered more plausible, pending a deal between Warner Bros. Television and Hulu. Any such moves could be helped by Kaling's long-standing relationship with Netflix's Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, who previously backed "The Mindy Project" and who oversees another Kaling series, "Running Point," already renewed for a third season on Netflix.
